What is Finasteride used for?

Finax tablet contains Finasteride 1mg, which is used for reducing and preventing hair loss due to male pattern baldness and increasing hair growth.

Finax is a synthetic antiandrogen that works by inhibiting the action of the enzyme convert testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (DHT). DHT is a hormone that can damage hair follicles and lead to hair loss in men. Finax can increase hair growth and prevent further hair loss from all areas of the scalp, including the front. Finax can help to reverse balding in men with mild to moderate hair loss but does not restore hair that has been lost for a long time. The medicine can only be used in men.

Take Finax exactly as directed by your doctor. Usually one Finax tablet a day with or without food. It may take 3-6 months to see the results.

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember, unless it is time to take the next dose, then skip the missed dose.  Do not take a double dose.

Discontinuation of the medication will result in return within one year to the same amount of baldness when you started.

What are the side effects of Finax?

Common side effects may include impotence, abnormal ejaculation, abnormal sexual function and low libido. Less common sde effects may include breasts tenderness and enlargement, allergic reactions from active ingredients, erectile dysfunction, testicular pain, etc.

The following are some of the precaution when using Finax.

1.  Taking Finax will lower the readings of the prostate-specific antigen test screening. It is important to let your doctor know you are taking Finax.

2.  Finax is not indicated for use by women. Women who are or who may become pregnant must not handle crushed or broken finasteride tablets, because the medication could be absorbed through the skin.

3.  Finax is known to cause birth defects in a developing male baby. Exposure to whole tablets should be avoided whenever possible, however exposure to whole tablets is not expected to be harmful as long as the tablets are not swallowed.
